A Truly Momentous Quartet of Strangeness and Charm
The video installation was first shown at Newent's Secret Gallery throughout the summer, 2019, as part of the Newent Art Competition Exhibition.
The music, for string quartet, is inspired by quantum-mechanical principles, running time about 25 minutes. The words up, down, quark, strangeness and charm are all quantum forces, or particles. The phrase, 'Quark, Strangeness and Charm' was the title of '70s rock band, Hawkwind's brilliant send up of famous scientists and their inability to conduct successful personal releationships - "To score, like you and me": "Did none of those astronomers discover - When staring out into the dark - That all a lady looks for in her lover - Is charm, strangeness and quark."
