Alchemy in music
Alchemy has been written for string quintet and assorted percussion, especially the mystical Tibetan singing bowls. The music is a combination of opposites, like the alchemy, meditative moods contrasting with earthly rhythms.
Alchemy makes sense as a psychological process. Constituents are mixed and heated in the human vessel, those elements being love, anguish, hope, anger, even boredom, with a dash of risk and passion. The process is birth, growth, decay, death and transformation. |
